By closely analysing a variety of videos for influences and ideas, particularly those of 'Ben Howards' and 'Little Comets' we have come up with a series of ideas for our mise en scene, camera work and editing style including the props, location and characters.
Our chosen song by Ben Howard 'The Promise' has very strong illustrative lyrics which will allow us to closely link the words to the mise en scene. We hope to create quite an abstract piece emphasising the obsurity of life, having random images of random people such as a large bald and tattooed man sitting on a too small chair holding a tiny bird in his hand with a blank expression. In our music video we aim to create a soft mood when displaying the variety of personalities; the idea there is no 'promise' of what life will bring but everyone differs..
And meet me (meat shot of artist) there (variety of random locations every time this word appears) bundles ( haystacks or opposite of bundles, a lonely figure) of flowers (dead vs alive fresh flowers), we wait through the hours of cold (snow/ winters morning, someone sitting alone)
Winter shall howl (owl/dog) at the walls (children sitting in urban areas, smiling- varying non verbal language/montage edited cuts between same scenes at different locations), tearing (rain, cries or paper) down doors of time (clock towers in different towns)
Shelter (different shelters and locations) as we go
And promise me this; you'll wait for me only, scared of the lonely arms
Surface, far below these words
Maybe, just maybe I'll come home (different people standing on their door steps at home)
Who am I, darling to you?
Who am I?
Going to tell you stories of mine
Who am I?
Who am I, darling for you?
Who am I?
Could be a burden in time, lonely
Who am I, to you?
Who am I, darling for you?
Who am I?
Going to be a burden
Who am I, darling to you?
Who am I?
I come alone here
I come alone here

Every time 'Who am I' is sung different people of different ages and ethnic backgrounds could be shown ending on the final one to reveal the artist.
