K: New tour advert

Tour Advert

Above is my tour advert, my part of the print work along with the photographs I took and edited which Lilli and Becki used. I believe my advert is suitable for our chosen magazines and advertising medium; local magazines, daily london newspapers and music magazines such as NME.

I aimed to follow the storyline and genre we created in our video, in my print work creating a soft naturalistic setting with a strong sense of purity and freedom, through the imagery used and the colour scheme used for the text; warm orange tones and naturalistic greens, to create an autumnal feel.

The upper side of the advert is in the style of Ben Howard's previous adverts, with appropriate logos he promotes for, 'Surfers Against Sewage'. The text I used displays all the relevant information the general public need; ticket sale dates, booking information including a phone number and website as well as separate dates for the certain gigs.

I overlayed two images, changing the opacity on photoshop to create a unique yet dreamy image to suit our music video and still follow the conventions of indie/folk genre. Both LS photographs of a landscape with the male artist in view. The tree is another focal point in the photograph, to link back to the narrative used in our music video of a suicide, in 'Follaton Wood', a visually aesthetic icon.

I left a border around the larger background image to match the line borders around the titles, in this way I aimed to represent Ben Howard's strength over what events have occurred, drawing a line under the unhappiness felt.

I researched fonts on both the website 'dafont' and those available on photoshop to find an appropriate font to match the characteristics and lifestyle of Ben Howard and the style and mise en scene used in our music video. This font 'bebas' we chose has a sense of strength and beauty but also conforming to the stereotypical indie/folk conventions.

I chose to enlarge the date the tickets start sale to give it prevalence as I believe this is the second most important information after the artist name 'Ben Howard' which is the biggest text at the top of the advert. The months of each gig are also slightly larger so the viewer can navigate easily between dates, this is also achieved by the dates and locations in different colours.
