K: Video idea- Bon Iver

I love this video directed by 'Nobil'. A narrative based video following a small childs' adventure through picturesque locations the video uses close ups with pull back focus and panning very sucessfully aswell as the lighting (natural), settings (bedroom) and props (stick). Although there is no particular narrative the audience is gripped by the journey this young boy takes, through his strong non verbal language.

The dissolve transition works well at the 1 minute point, connoting the soft tune and lyrics; as well as the slow motion used to make the video even more gentle. 1 minute 30 is an amazing shot, a extreme long shot where the upper part of the frame, the clouds has been fast-forwarded but the lower a normal rate; a technique I think we should experiment with. I also like the use of handy cam shooting, and slow zooms. There is a strong link between the song and the visuals a very relaxing as visceral video, a perfect paradox to the song.

  1. This is a really good find! I love the way that there is no set narrative and think that this concept would work really well with our ideas and track.
